Ghana's Thomas Partey won the chieftaincy after beating Nigeria in the World Cup qualifier

Thomas Partey, an Arsenal midfielder, has been given a chieftaincy title in Ghana on Friday, June 3, 2022.

The title is from his hereditary individuals of Manya Krobo in Ghana’s Eastern Region. The 28-year-old is granted the title in his hometown after driving the Dark Stars of Ghana to a World Container ticket. Partey was captain as Andre Ayew was inaccessible within the 2022 FIFA World Container qualifier twofold header playoffs against the Super Falcons of Nigeria.

The traditional ruler of the district Partey was invited to the Chieftaincy title coronation by His Royal Majesty, Nene Sakite II.

Partey, whose hometown is in the Manya Krobo District, has been dubbed "Mahefalor."

"Defender of Krobo Traditional Area" is how Mahefalor is translated. Through his foundation, Partey is actively involved in local charity.

The citation for Partey's chieftaincy title stated that the chieftaincy title was given to him for his community service, but more importantly for scoring the goal that knocked Nigeria out of the World Cup.

"In gratitude of your exceptional team leadership and your spectacular performance on March 29, 2022 as midfielder and Captain of the Ghana Black Stars to qualify our National Team for the World Cup in Qatar 2022," the statement read.
