EAGLES SUPERIOR Taiwo Awoniyi, a Nigerian footballer, has been named the 14th best player in Union Berlin history.
Awoniyi's talent was recognized on the list, which was a ranking of the 50 best players to have ever played for Union Berlin in its 56-year history.
Awoniyi, who has just been at Union Berlin for a year and nine months, has received significant appreciation for his inclusion and relatively high ranking.
Indeed, the 24-year-old striker has endeared himself to Union fans after completing his one and only full season with the club and finishing as their top scorer.
Taiwo Awoniyi joined Union Berlin on loan from Liverpool in September 2020, scoring five goals in an injury-plagued season.
Union, on the other hand, had enough faith in his abilities to pay £6.5 million to bring him back to Stadion An der Alten Försterei on a permanent basis.
Awoniyi scored 20 goals in his debut season as a full Union player, helping the side finish fifth in the Bundesliga for the first time ever in the 2021/22 season.
The Iron Ores will compete in the Europa League for the first time next season, according to Awoniyi, following a Europa Conference League campaign this season.
With such an influence, Awoniyi's inclusion on Union Berlin's all-time greats list is obvious, as the Nigerian has been a driving force behind the club's success.
The 24-year-old has just been out of his contract for one year, giving him plenty of opportunity to build on his Union Berlin history and move up the rankings.
