Liverpool transfer news: Micky van de Ven is "open" to reuniting with the "great club".
Due to the recent appointment of his former sports director at the Reds, Micky van de Ven has been linked with a move to Anfield and the player is "open" to such a move.
Micky van de Ven has kept up his public flirtation with Liverpool while insisting on that he would be "open to a good plan."
This season, the Dutchman has been crucial for Wolfsburg, starting over 30 games at the center of the German team's defense. In preparation for the Euros this summer, Van de Ven is now on international duty with the Dutch U21 team, but rumors of a transfer to Anfield are growing.
Recently, Jorg Schmadtke was named Liverpool's sporting director. He brought Van de Ven to Wolfsburg when he was a teenager, and if the player doesn't deny the rumors, he may bring him back to Merseyside.
"Of course I heard of Liverpool connections and I know they've been following me in the past," he said to VI. I'm done now. No doubt. Liverpool is a fantastic team. This summer, I might be able to move. If a quality club with a sound plan shows up... I'd be honest.
Liverpool has many of defensive options now, but adding Van de Ven would help them even more. The 22-year-old can play in a variety of back four positions, and Jurgen Klopp frequently switches him out for Virgil van Dijk. The Dutchman was partnered with Joel Matip, Joe Gomez, and Ibrahima Konate in the previous campaign. However, Matip is still hampered by injuries, and Gomez has also missed time due to an ailment.
Unlike some other young players, Van de Ven pays close attention to the rumors. Kevin De Bruyne, for example, has flourished at Wolfsburg, and the young Dutchman acknowledges that a large transfer would "be nice," albeit he also revealed that he is content to stay in Germany for another season.
He said to HITC: "I read everything, of course. Since I communicate well with my agent, I am aware of what is happening. I'll see where it goes from there. Ideally, a significant transfer following the Euros would be excellent. It's the Premier League. I suppose so. Exactly what? I enjoy working at Wolfsburg and don't mind continuing there for another year because I excel there. But I would like to leave if I have the opportunity.
Alexis MacAllister, a Brighton star who moved to Anfield this summer, has already been added to Liverpool. With Moises Caicedo and Mason Mount on their radar, the Argentine will address their midfield difficulties, but additional signings are anticipated.
Even though Jurgen Klopp's team didn't play in the Champions League, he doesn't anticipate that will be an issue when it comes to hiring. "It's a fantastic club with a really good football team, and hopefully even better next year," he remarked. I've hardly ever encountered a player who, after a nice conversation, says, "Okay, see you later." That doesn't occur all that frequently.
