The Difference Between Threads And Twitter
The text-based Instagram app Threads was introduced by Meta on Wednesday. In less than 24 hours following its release, the app had more than 30 million users.
Adam Mosseri, the CEO of Instagram, claimed that Elon Musk's "volatility" and "unpredictability" at Twitter gave room for competition.
According to reports, Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, withdrew the historical verified checkmarks of numerous famous people that were previously available for free and replaced them with Twitter Blue, a paid subscription service.
Other recent modifications made under Musk's direction include restricting how many tweets users may view at once.
As he wrote his first Twitter in 11 years after Threads was introduced, Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg, who had lost his legacy verified check mark, made fun of Elon Musk.
Though there are some clear differences, there are also many striking similarities between Threads and Twitter.
9 opposing areas are listed below:
1. Unlike Musk's take on Twitter, paid verification is not currently available on Threads. People who have blue ticks on Instagram, however, have that verification carried over to Threads.
2. You cannot restrict the postings you see in Threads to those from accounts you follow. Posts from a variety 5 other accounts, in addition to those you follow, are displayed to you in Threads. The ability to view tweets from users you follow or from other Twitter users is available for you on Twitter's timeline.
3. Unlike Twitter, which is not linked to any other apps, you cannot cancel your Threads profile without also deleting your Instagram account.
4. Inability to conduct a thread search. You may currently only find user accounts using the search feature in Threads. Instagram announced that "we'll be adding a number of new features to help you continue to discover threads and creators you're interested in, including improved recommendations in feed and a more robust search function that makes it easier to follow topics and trends in real time."
5. Threads isn't currently accessible worldwide. Due to "complexities with complying with some of the laws coming into effect next year," which is likely a reference to the EU's Digital Markets Act, Threads is now unavailable in nations that are members of the European Union.
6. A mobile-only experience.Twitter can be viewed on both mobile and desktop computers, however Threads is only presently available as a mobile app.
7. There is no direct messaging because Twitter has a direct message capability and Threads doesn't.
8. No trending topics or hashtags. Threads calls itself a "conversational app," yet it doesn't employ hashtags or highlight topics that are relevant. Trending topics and the usage of hashtags are trademarks of Twitter.
9. No filters for the photos. The lack of photo filters on the app is already drawing criticism from Thread users. Nine photo filters are available to users on Twitter.
