Dybala: Chelsea is prepared to make a move to sign Paulo Dybala.
According to reports, head coach Mauricio Pochettino asked Chelsea to try to acquire Roma star Paulo Dybala.
The Blues are once more at the beginning of a new era under a new manager, which is made worse by the lack of European football and the urgent need to get back on a solid financial footing to comply with regulations.
That appears to have been accomplished for the time being, as Chelsea has raised close to £200 million from the sales of six players, with more players anticipated to come soon after.
With the signing of two attackers by Chelsea for a combined sum of over £84 million, Pochettino appears to have more time to concentrate on other areas of the field.
However, it appears that Pochettino is targeting another forward for a low cost after assuring supporters that additional players will be heading to Stamford Bridge.
Pochettino is keen in arranging a move for his Argentine compatriot Dybala over the next several weeks, according to transfer writer Pedro Almeida on Twitter.
According to the story, the player's agent has already been contacted to find out if he would be interested in relocating to West London.
Dybala decided to sign for Roma on a free transfer last summer because he wanted to play regular first-team games for a side that was improving under Jose Mourinho.
Roma didn't do well in Serie A, but they did make it to the Europa League final, where they lost to Sevilla on penalties after Dybala had given them the lead.
The 29-year-old made 38 appearances, contributing a total of 18 goals and 8 assists. Because of this performance, clubs are keeping an eye on the release provisions that were added into his contract.
In terms of foreign teams, Dybala is only available for €12m (£10.2m), leaving Roma in a limbo as they attempt to hold onto the services of perhaps their key player.
Pochettino has a long-standing admiration for Dybala and has attempted to sign him in the past when coaching Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain.
Other teams, including Manchester United, have reportedly expressed interest in the player in the past, and it's possible that other options will present themselves in Serie A, overseas, or with a greater release clause.
