An official investigation into PSG player Hakimi is underway as a result of a rape accusation.
The 24-year-old lady who claims she was sexually assaulted by Hakimi on Saturday at his house in a suburb of Paris is not allowed to speak to the 24-year-old suspect, Hakimi. The prosecution announced that Hakimi is free to depart French territory.
Hakimi 'firmly denies all the allegations against him,' according to the player's attorney Fanny Colin, and claims that he was the victim of 'an attempted racket.
An official from PSG stated that the team "gives its support" to Hakimi and "places its trust in the justice system."
The accused victim's attorney, Rachel Flore Pardo, told the AFP news agency, "My client stands by what she claimed. She decided to speak only to prosecutors and does not want the situation to be covered by the media, primarily to ensure her protection.
On Monday, prosecutors began their initial investigation. The case need not proceed to trial just because a formal investigation has been launched.
Last year, the defender from Madrid assisted Morocco in making World Cup history by becoming the first African team to go to the semifinals. On Friday, he was spotted working out with PSG.
