Gunmen who robbed a shop in Lionel Messi's hometown of Rosario on Thursday sent him a threatening message, according to the Paris Saint-Germain forward.


The family of Messi's wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, who is also a native of the Argentina city, owns the grocery business "Unico," which is situated in the Lavalle neighborhood.

Police were summoned to the location early on Thursday morning after it was alleged that 14 rounds were fired at the store's shutters and front door.

In response to the incident, Rosario's mayor, Pablo Javkin, spoke out about the level of violence and the requirement for more police officers in a city where crime is on the rise. These messages are in reference to him.


The major city in the Santa Fe province of central Argentina is Rosario, which is located 186 miles (300 kilometers) north of Buenos Aires.

Although no one was hurt in the attack on Thursday, the store is believed to have sustained severe damage.
