Morocco defeats Belgium 2-0 in another World Cup upset.

On November 27, the "Golden Generation" of European team, Belgium, was defeated by the North African team, Morocco, in another World Cup shock.

Thanks to outstanding play from substitutes Zakaria Aboukhlal and Abdelhamid Sabiri, Morocco defeated Belgium 2-0.

Substitute Morocco's first goal was scored in the 73rd minute by Abdelhamid Sabiri, who beat Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois by whipping in a free kick from a tight angle at the near post. Later, in stoppage time, Hakim Ziyech passed the ball to Zakaria Aboukhlal, who subsequently directed a shot into the roof of the net.

Behind Brazil in the world rankings, Belgium had won its previous seven World Cup group games. It was only Morocco's third World Cup victory overall and its first since 1998.
If Belgium had defeated the No. 22-ranked Moroccans, it would have become the second team after the defending champion France to advance to the elimination round.

In its last group game, Belgium will take on Croatia, a semifinalist from 2018, while Morocco will take on Canada.

Although Roberto Martnez's team still has a chance to advance to the round of 16, they appear to be a diminished version of the group who placed third in Russia in 2018.

Before Belgium's 2-0 loss to Morocco, Kevin De Bruyne acknowledged that his nation's 'Golden Generation' was coming to an end.

When questioned about the claims that his country could win the grand prize in Qatar, he responded, "No chance, we're too old. We probably had a chance in 2018. Our crew is strong, but it is getting older.
