Another wealthy drug tycoon is apprehended by the NDLEA in Lagos, where they find tramadol worth N8.8 billion.

Agents of the National Drug Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have seized no less than Thirteen Million, Four Hundred and Fifty One Thousand, Four Hundred and Sixty Six (13,451,466) Tramadol 225mg pills worth Eight Billion Eight Hundred and Sixty Million Naira (N8,860,000,000) in street value from one of the mansions of a wealthy drug lord named Ugochukwu Nsofor Chukwuka

The arrest of Ugochukwu, the chairman of Autonation Motors Ltd., comes just two months after the NDLEA discovered a methamphetamine clandestine laboratory in the home of Chris Emeka Nzewi, another drug lord in the neighborhood, who was detained on Saturday, July 30, along with Sunday Ukah, a chemist who prepared the illegal drug for him.

During Nzewi's arrest, investigators found at least 258.74 kilos of crystal methamphetamine and a number of precursor chemicals that are needed to make the dangerous narcotic.

Following reliable information, NDLEA agents stormed the residence of the 52-year-old billionaire drug lord at Plot A45 Road 2 on September 30. 443 cartons of Tramadol Hydrochloride 225mg, containing 13, 451, 466 pills, were found during a search of the large mansion. Some of the cartons were already burned during a fire incident that day.

Ugochukwu, who is from the Anambra state's Ihiala local government area, was on the Agency's watch list before he was arrested because he was thought to be a part of the tramadol drug cartel in Nigeria. According to preliminary research, he owns six mansions in the VGC, two of which he uses as his office and one of which he uses to store the tramadol consignment. He resides in the mansion at Plot Z-130 Road 67. Two of his houses contained five exotic vehicles, of which two SUVs and a bullet jeep were safely removed to the Agency's facility.

In response to the most recent drug seizure, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, praised the officers and men involved in the operation for their perseverance and thanked Nigerians for their support in the Agency's difficult task of ridding the nation of the menace of drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking.

He stated, "I'll like to reassure Nigerians and other stakeholders of our preparedness to engage with them on this difficult mission of saving our people from the drug scourge, wherever they may be located across the country and beyond. This alliance serves as a further reminder to drug lords and cartels that they can no longer hide because we are on their trail and will eventually catch them.
